POLISHED CORAL

Polished coral_edited.jpg

Adriatic red coral is one of the most precious natural materials used in jewelry. It is formed in the depths of the Mediterranean Sea and has been valued for centuries for its beauty, rarity and symbolic meaning. Throughout history, coral has held a special place in many cultures. In Tibetan and Native American traditions it was considered a sacred stone of great power and was especially valued as a protector of women. Ancient Greeks dedicated coral to Aphrodite, the goddess of love, while Romans believed it strengthened vitality and fertility. In many civilizations coral was worn as protection against negative energy and misfortune. It was also believed to bring harmony, happiness and good fortune in marriage, which is why coral jewelry was traditionally worn by young women before marriage. From a material perspective, coral is a natural organic gemstone. According to the Mohs hardness scale its hardness is about 3.5, meaning it is relatively soft and requires gentle care. Because of its delicate nature, coral jewelry should be protected from prolonged exposure to strong sunlight, high temperatures, aggressive cosmetic products and chemicals, and long exposure to water. With proper care, Adriatic coral jewelry can preserve its natural beauty and color for generations. For cleaning, it is recommended to gently wipe coral with a soft dry cloth and store it separately from harder jewelry to avoid scratches. Adriatic coral jewelry represents a unique part of Mediterranean tradition and craftsmanship.

HOW TO TAKE CARE CORAL JEWELRY

Adriatic coral is a precious natural organic gemstone formed in the sea over many years. With proper care, coral jewelry can preserve its natural beauty for generations and become a timeless piece of jewelry that is lovingly passed from one generation to the next. In many Mediterranean traditions, coral jewelry has long been cherished as a family treasure and is often passed down through generations as a meaningful heirloom. For centuries along the Adriatic coast, especially in historic Mediterranean cities such as Split, coral jewelry has been appreciated not only for its beauty but also as a symbol of tradition, protection and good fortune. To keep your Adriatic coral jewelry in the best condition:

Avoid perfumes and cosmetics
Do not spray perfume, hairspray or cosmetics directly on coral jewelry.

Remove before swimming
Saltwater, chlorine and soaps can affect coral's natural surface.

Avoid chemicals
Keep coral jewelry away from cleaning products and strong chemicals.

Store separately
Store coral jewelry in a soft pouch or jewelry box to protect it from scratches.

Clean gently
After wearing, wipe coral jewelry with a soft dry cloth to maintain its natural shine.

Adriatic coral jewelry is not only a beautiful adornment, but also a meaningful piece of nature and tradition. With proper care, it can remain a treasured jewel for many years — a precious keepsake to be cherished and passed on to future generations.

A timeless gift from the Adriatic Sea.
